A native of Villié-Morgon in Beaujolais, Jean-Louis Manoa, also called "the Viking", made a thousand and one voyages before settling on Mercière road.
From "Le Relais des Caveaux" owned by his father, to Chapland's "Aux Pied de Couchon", with a stint at Mrs. Andrée's "La Sauvagie" somewhere in between, Jean-Louis satisfied his curiosity throughout his endless encounters with various personalities, opinions and precise flavours.

Strengthened by these patiently accumulated treasures, Jean Louis opened "Le Mercière in 1978, perpetuating in Lyon what his Beaujolais origins taught him: authentic cuisine recreated. Seasonal dishes, game and local specialties such as roasted Bresse chicken, grilled "andouillette" sausages and Beaujolais delicatessen meat are all prepared to reflect Jean-Louis Manoa's engaging personality.
